On October 22 & 23, 2025, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, President of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), led the VIAC delegation to attend Hong Kong ADR Week 2025 and hold meetings with the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) and the eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre. During these meetings, the parties signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) to enhance cooperation in the field of arbitration and alternative dispute resolution (ADR).
From October 21 to 24, 2025, the VIAC delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh – President of VIAC, and comprising Lawyer Chau Viet Bac – Vice Secretary General of VIAC, Mr. Phan Trong Dat – Acting Director of the Vietnam Mediation Centre (VMC) – a division of VIAC, Lawyer Nguyen Trung Nam – Deputy Director of VMC, and Lawyer Bui Van Thanh – VIAC’s Listed Arbitrator, paid a working visit to Hong Kong (China).

Participating in Hong Kong ADR Week 2025
As part of the trip, on October 22, 2025, the VIACdelegation attended the “ADR in Asia Conference” – the flagship event of Hong Kong Arbitration Week 2025. The conference serves as an annual gathering of arbitration and ADR professionals in Hong Kong (China), bringing together representatives of arbitration institutions, legal practitioners, academics, and leading experts from across the region. This year’s event, themed “Innovation – Connection – Sustainability”, featured in-depth discussions on emerging trends in arbitration and mediation, as well as the application of technology in international dispute resolution.

Later that day, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh, President of VIAC, also attended the Hong Kong Arbitration Charity Ball (HKACB). Established in 2012, this annual charity event has become a major social gathering for the arbitration and legal community, offering meaningful networking opportunities while raising significant funds to support local charitable causes.

Continuing the working agenda, on October 23, 2025, the VIAC delegation visited the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) to discuss opportunities for cooperation in promoting arbitration and ADR in Vietnam, Hong Kong (China), and the wider region. The MoU signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh – President of VIAC and Ms. Joanne Lau – Secretary-General of HKIAC, with the presence of representatives from both organizations.

During the meeting, the two side exchanged insights and experiences in institutional management and explored directions for future collaboration, including co-hosting thematic seminars, training programs, and other joint initiatives to enhance knowledge sharing and the promotion of arbitration and ADR in the Asia-Pacific region. Working Session with the eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre
Also on October 23, 2025, the VIAC delegation met with the eBRAM International Online Dispute Resolution Centre, a non-profit organization engaged in arbitration, mediation, and LawTech development, to exchange insights and formalize cooperation through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
The signing ceremony was attended by Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh – President of VIAC and Mr. Ronald Sum JP – Vice Chairman of eBRAM, and witnessed by representatives from both organizations.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed experiences in applying digital platforms and technology in dispute resolution and explored future cooperation in developing joint online arbitration platforms, capacity-building initiatives, and professional exchange programs in ADR. [See more]
With the signing of the MoUs, VIAC, HKIAC, and eBRAM reaffirmed their shared commitment to promoting fair, transparent, and efficient dispute resolution mechanisms. The parties also agreed to collaborate in advancing digital transformation in arbitration, encouraging the use of online platforms and technology-based dispute resolution, thereby improving access to justice, enhancing procedural efficiency, and providing a better user experience.
The VIAC delegation’s trip to Hong Kong concluded successfully, opening new opportunities for international cooperation and reaffirming VIAC’s pioneering role in connecting and advancing modern dispute resolution mechanisms from Vietnam to the global stage.
