Arbitration symposium on "Completing the third parties’ mechanisms for facilitating the arbitral proceedings"
Apr 03, 2024With the increasing appearance in arbitration disputes, third parties and situations related to this subject have been receiving considerable attention recently. Through research and practical experience, numerous contributions regarding the addition and improvement of mechanisms for third parties have been made, especially as the Law on Commercial Arbitration 2010 is in the process of being amended. Grasping this importance, within the framework of the 2024 Arbitration – Mediation Forum (AMS 2024), the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) has sequentially collaborated with several universities training in Law in HCMC: Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW), School of Law, College of Economics, Law and Government (CELG-UEH), University of Economics and Law, VNU - HCM (UEL) to organize 03 Workshop on Fridays weekly, starting from 22/03/2024. With the goal of providing a comprehensive synthesis of all information and opening a platform for exchange and discussion among reputable experts with specialized and long-standing experience in the field of arbitration, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) in collaboration with Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW) organizes the Discussion Forum on "Completing the third parties’ mechanisms for facilitating the arbitral proceedings". This is the key event that closes up the AMS 2024 "Third parties and influences on arbitral proceedings".

Plenary Session of Investment Legal Support Forum 2024 – Semester 1

VIAC & VIART have been officially transferred and assigned the Intensive Training program of Arbitrator skills from USAID
Mar 22, 2024HANOI, Vietnam – In December 2023, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) successfully co-hosted the “Arbitrator Skills Camp” . Subsequently, on December 4 th , 2023, VIAC had a meeting with USAID and a group of foreign experts to discuss some specific details regarding the handover of this training program. As a result of this discussion, VIAC and VIART have been officially transferred and assigned the Intensive Training program of Arbitrator Skills from USAID.

[HICAC 2024 - Side Event] Workshop on Practices & Experiences in Resolving Construction Disputes by Arbitration in Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC)
Mar 20, 2024With the growth of the country's economy, construction is being seen as one of key sectors undergoing significant breakthroughs and changes over time. However, under this situation, disputes in this sector have been considerably increasing. According to statistics of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), in 2023, construction disputes saw a significant rise compared to previous periods, ranking fourth among industries whose disputes were handled by VIAC. It can be said that most of the construction disputes have great value and are immensely complicated. These disputes stem from different causes, such as disputes arising from issues on designing and consulting, claims for compensation due to delays or quality failures, and other claims for terminating contracts.

Feb 28, 2024Currently, the efficiency of resolving disputes by arbitration, in particular and by alternative disputes resolutions (be abbreviated to “ ADRs ”), in general has been recognized by business community. Accordingly, not only did the number of cases resolved through arbitration and mediation significantly increase, but there was also a diversity of industries and parties’ nationalities.

VIAC signs Cooperation Agreement with the SCC Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce
Feb 06, 2024In a stride towards fostering international commercial arbitration and enhancing trade relations, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC) and the SCC Arbitration Institute (SCC) signed a Cooperation Agreement in January 2024. This Agreement signifies the joint dedication of the Parties to not only promote arbitration but also to extend their efforts beyond it.

VIAC Arbitrator Luu Tien Dzung has published Case Law of Vietnam – Analyses and Commentaries - Book II
Feb 26, 2024Following the first volume of the book titled "Case Law of Vietnam - Analyses and Commentaries" (covering case laws from number 01 to number 43), in early 2024, Dr. Luu Tien Dzung, continued to compile and publish the second volume. This volume provides analyses and commentaries on case law ranging from number 44 to number 70.
