Experience has shown that wastewater and solid waste treatment in urban areas and industrial parks is an urgent and pressing issue, causing distress and intricacy for the society for a long time, which requires attentiveness to find sustainable solutions. With today's modern technology, waste is considered as a valuable resource and the life cycle of wastewater can be shortened to convert wastewater into potable water, which would effectively serve human life. But in order to deploy these modern technologies into practice, it requires not only deliberate policies from the State but also large financial investment resources. Employing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) in the field of wastewater and solid waste treatment is a promising direction for its enormous resources and the dynamism of the private sector participating in urban environmental quality improvement. However, at the present, this direction has not been implemented much in Vietnam.
In our attempts to establish a forum for experience exchange and discussion about the implementation of wastewater and solid waste treatment projects, thereby helping both public agencies and the private sector to attain more information and initiatives, implementing effective public-private partnership, and helping to utilize social resources for the purpose of improving the quality of urban environment in Vietnam, Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) in collaboration with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vietnam Industry and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) organizes the Workshop on:
