Since 2017, the Ho Chi Minh City University of Law (ULAW) has hosted the Vietnam Moot Court Competition - National Round (VMOOT), with the goal of establishing a reputable and professional academic platform. This initiative aims to enable Law students to refine their advocacy skills and apply legal knowledge to practical scenarios, while simultaneously demonstrating the mindset, fortitude, and enthusiasm characteristic of Law students.
Following the success of the previous eight seasons, the 9th Vietnam Moot Court Competition - National Round (VMOOT) continued to be effectively implemented, attracting over 80 competing teams from more than 40 law schools and legal training institutions across the country. This year, the competition featured several notable innovations, closely adhering to the practical realities of disputes arising in commercial life, with the case scenario derived from materials provided directly by the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC). Through this approach, the competition not only provides students with the opportunity to gain practical experience and enhance their professional skills, but also contributes to fostering a deeper understanding of commercial arbitration as a method of dispute resolution - a trend of increasing importance in the context of international integration.

Contributing to the success of the competition, and serving as the judiciary from the Quarter-finals through the Finals, experts including VIAC Arbitrators and Vietnam Mediation Centre (VMC) Mediators, along with experienced lawyers specialized in arbitration proceedings, provided in-depth assessments. These critiques extended beyond merely determining the winning and losing teams; they offered invaluable practical lessons, helping to standardize the advocacy skills of the contestants and bridge the gap between academic theory and the practical realities of dispute resolution through arbitration. The guidance and sustained commitment demonstrated by the experts strongly disseminated the spirit of supremacy of law. Consequently, the competition serves not only as a platform for skill development but also plays a crucial role in preparing future generations of lawyers and legal professionals for their careers, thereby promoting the sustainable development of legal science in Vietnam.
