VIAC cooperated with the Department of Justice and the Department of Finance of Hai Phong City to organise a training program on Negotiation and Contract Signing Skills, and the Resolution of Arising Disputes

On the morning of Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in Hai Phong, the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC), in collaboration with the Department of Justice and the Department of Finance of Hai Phong City, successfully organised a training program on Negotiation and Contract Signing Skills, and the Resolution of Arising Disputes.

Overview of the Training Program

The program was attended by Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh – President of the Vietnam International Arbitration Centre (VIAC); Mr. Tran Duc Huan – Deputy Director of the Hai Phong City Department of Justice; Mr. Hoang Xuan Minh – Deputy Director of the Hai Phong City Department of Finance; along with representatives from the Hai Phong People’s Court, the Vietnam Coast Guard, and other organizations. Instructed by Mr. Truong Thanh Duc – VIAC’s Arbitrator and Director of ANVI Law Firm, the training session took place in an energetic atmosphere, attracting more than 100 participants from various city departments, business associations, enterprises, law firms, in-house legal teams, and other interested parties.

In the opening remarks, Mr. Tran Duc Huan – Deputy Director of the Hai Phong City Department of Justice warmly welcomed all delegates in attendance. He emphasized the strategic importance of enhancing legal capacity for government officials and the business community, particularly in the context of the city’s ongoing administrative reforms, efforts to improve the investment environment, and the strong development of key economic sectors. He further noted that the Department of Justice highly appreciates the cooperation of VIAC in designing a training program closely aligned with the practical needs of the locality. He concluded by reaffirming the Department’s commitment to continued close coordination with VIAC in upcoming professional activities, to support enterprises in minimizing legal risks and strengthening their competitiveness in the market.

Following this, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh – President of VIAC expressed his sincere gratitude to the Hai Phong City Department of Justice for their active cooperation. He emphasised the increasing importance of equipping participants with knowledge on contracts and dispute resolution skills in the context of a dynamic business environment with a rising number of commercial disputes. He noted that the program was designed based on practical cases handled by VIAC, focusing on negotiation skills, contract drafting, identifying common mistakes, and modern methods of dispute resolution, such as arbitration and commercial mediation. Concluding his speech, Prof. Dr. Le Hong Hanh expressed his hope that the program would provide participants with practical and valuable experience, and affirmed VIAC’s desire to expand further cooperation with Hai Phong City, contributing to the establishment of a transparent and sustainable business environment.

In his presentation, Mr. Truong Thanh Duc provided in-depth insights into two key areas. The first part focused on skills for drafting, negotiating, and signing contracts. He systematised the fundamental legal issues of contracts, explained the negotiation process in detail, analysed the structure of commercial contracts, and guided participants in identifying and assessing potential risks. In addition, he highlighted essential considerations when negotiating contractual terms, tailored to the specific needs and characteristics of enterprises.

The second part focused on contract dispute resolution. Lawyer Truong Thanh Duc introduced and compared various dispute resolution methods, while also pointing out the factors that enterprises should consider when choosing an appropriate method for each specific business area. Furthermore, he shared practical experience from cases handled at VIAC, provided guidance on drafting dispute resolution clauses, and offered key skills needed when enterprises participate in arbitration or commercial mediation.

The program concluded with an interactive Q&A session featuring practical scenarios relating to contract negotiation, signing, and dispute resolution. Mr. Duc diligently answered participants’ questions and shared practical recommendations and insights to help enterprises effectively manage legal risks. This interactive segment allowed participants to strengthen their understanding, exchange experiences, and immediately apply the skills they acquired. The training session ended in a positive and enthusiastic atmosphere, leaving strong impressions and receiving favorable feedback from participants.
